Current Road Conditions

Much different than 24 hours ago. Most roads in Vanderburgh County are clear and passable.
Some secondary roads and side streets still have snow and ice.
There have been reports of some slick spots on roads. Imglefield and Wortman roads in the northern part of the county have been reported to be icy and slick this morning.
A few things to remember for today:
- Be alert for changing road conditions. You may have mostly dry pavement and suddenly hit a slick spot.
- Keep your speed reasonable and give yourself a little extra distance, just in case.
- If you did not get out yesterday and clean your car thouroughly, do so today. Make sure all windows, mirrors and lights are free from snow and ice.

Road conditions in Vanderburgh County have greatly improved throughout the day. Highways and most main roads are clear other than around some intersections and the shoulders.
Many secondary roads are covered but passable.
With the snow and ice melt today, most roads are wet. Expect them to refreeze, becomng slick and hazardous, once the sun sets this evening.
Use caution as conditions can change quickly and without warning.

All roads are still snow covered and hazardous.
I164 has one lane that is relatively clear in both directions.
Hwy 41 is still snow covered on both lanes.
Primary and secondary roads are snow covered with ice underneath.
Please take a few extra minutes to make sure all of your windows are clear of ice and snow including mirrors before heading out. Visibility is important. Give yourself extra time and distance today.

All roads in Vanderburgh County are snow covered and hazardous.
Highways have significant snow pack covering both lanes. One of the more troublesome roads, I164, has had some snow removal at this time but remains snow covered.
Primary and secondary roads are snow covered.
There is some drifting on county roads creating deep snow covered roads in areas.
Temperatures are in the mid-teens so there is little snow melt at this time.
SLOW DOWN and GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF DISTANCE if you MUST travel. Make well planned and deliberate maneuvers. Avoid sudden stops or changes in direction.

Primary and secondary roads are ice covered and very slick.
Please use caution if you must drive this evening. Based on current conditions and current weather forecasts, conditioms will worsen signficantly throughout the evening and night.
If you must drive, thoroughly clean windshields, give yourself extra time and plenty of extra distance between other cars.

The second round of winter weather has arrived. Expect roads to worsen as the evening progresses. Please do not travel if not necessary.

Roads are becoming slick in the western part of the county. USI has closed some roads on campus due to slick road conditions.

At present time, roads in Vanderburgh County are being reported as rain covered and not hazardous. That is expected to begin changing anytime with temperatures now below freezing. Use caution as road conditions change, they may catch you unprepared. Bridges and overpasses will be the first to begin freezing.
Be prepared today. Use caution when driving and as the roads deteriorate, please only travel when necessary.
