Steve Bagbey is a retired member of the Evansville Police Department. He is also the retired Safety and Security Coordinator for the Evansville Area Catholic School. Mr. Bagbey is also a certified Police Generalist Instructor. In addition, he served 16 years as an elected member of the common council. Mr. Bagbey has a B.S. in Criminal Justice and is a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, Drug Enforcement Administration, Indiana University Public Affairs Course on criminal investigations, and the FBI National Academy. In addition to multiple law enforcement courses, Mr. Bagbey is currently a Board Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Coordinator, Level II, and a Licensed Addiction Counselor. Both certifications require extensive study and training. Mr. Bagbey was one of the first graduates of the Indiana School Safety Specialist Academy hosted by the Indiana Department of Education. He has worked with youth for over 35 years as both a teacher and coach. He has taught classes at the University of Southern Indiana, the University of Evansville, and Ivy Technical College in criminal justice. Mr. Bagbey has co-authored a book, Mob Murderer of America’s Greatest Gambler that is currently listed in the top 10 of Organized Crime books on Amazon.com. He has been recognized by the US Justice Department and FBI for his work in narcotics enforcement. He is frequently asked to speak at various events about the impact of substance abuse on our community.
