Major Craig J. Titzer is an Evansville native who attended Mater Dei High School, graduating in 1982. After high school, Major Titzer attended the University of Southern Indiana and, later, Oakland City University where he studied Business Administration. Major Titzer joined the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office in 1994. He has held the rank of Sergeant, Lieutenant and Major. During his career with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Major Titzer has worked with Motor Patrol, including four (4) years with the Motorcycle Unit, Warrants Division, Executive Commander of the Confinement April, 2011 – June, 2014, and is the current Executive Commander of Operations. Major Titzer is a member of the Board of Directors for the Evansville Parks Foundation and a former board member for the German Township Volunteer Fire Department. Major Titzer actively volunteers for Youth Resources, Albion Fellows Bacon Center, Sycamore Services, and the Salvation Army.
During the last 20 years as a member of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Major Titzer is most proud of the professionalism displayed by members of Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office on a day to day basis and especially in those situations where no one else will witness the action or behavior.
