Lieutenant Kirk Byram

Lieutenant Kirk Byram was born in Louisville, Kentucky and raised in Evansville, Indiana where he attended Evansville Central High School. After high school, he attended the University of Southern Indiana where he received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Sociology with a Criminal Justice Concentration. He later received his Master’s Degree in Criminology from Indiana State University. Lt. Byram served as a Reserve Deputy from 1991 until 1993 when he was hired as a Merit Deputy with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office. He served as a Field Training Deputy, and is currently a general instructor in Emergency Vehicle Operations, STOPS, Firearms and SPEAR. He has served as a Sergeant on Motor Patrol, Investigations and Confinement. Currently, he is the 1st Shift Assistant Commander for Operations. Lt. Byram has volunteered for Albion Fellows Bacon, the Salvation Army Red Kettle Program, Christmas with the Kids Program, Community One, Homeless Connect, Keep Evansville Beautiful, Christian Fellowship Church and Evansville Christian School. Lt. Byram and his wife, Trina, have two sons. His favorite quote is “There is never a right way to do the wrong thing!”
