Lieutenant Dave Townsend

Lieutenant Dave Townsend was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana where he attended Mater Dei High School. After high school, Lt. Townsend attended the University of Southern Indiana where he received a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Business Administration. Lt. Townsend was sworn in as a Merit Deputy in 1995. He has served the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office in Motor Patrol, as a Motorcycle Deputy, as a member of the Court Security Unit, a supervisor in the Jail and in the Warrants and Transport Division. Currently, Lt. Townsend serves as the Assistant Jail Commander in Warrants, Transportation and Court Security. Lt. Townsend volunteers his time with the Mater Dei High School Band and Color Guard and many community improvement projects. He is a graduate of Leadership Evansville. Lt. Townsend is most proud of the way divisions work together within the Sheriff’s Office to accomplish the tasks that need to be done. He and his wife have two daughters. His favorite quote is, “There are friends, there is family and then there are friends that become family.”
