The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office currently registers and maintains all information regarding local registered sex and violent offenders residing, employed and attending any type of school in Vanderburgh County . Through recent legislative changes The Indiana Department of Correction has replaced the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute as the agency that collaborates with the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association in the operation and maintenance of the Indiana Sheriff’s Sex and Violent Offender Registration web site.

While the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office paved the way for the current format of the Sex and Violent Offender web site with a geographically based interface, the State has now caught up and is offering a tremendously powerful central site for the entire State. It is no longer efficient or effective to maintain duplicate sets of data at the local and State level. In fact, it increases the opportunity for error and the difficulty of searching for possible registrants across multiple sites. Therefore, it only makes sense to discontinue the operation of the  local site and continue to populate the State site exclusively with our local Vanderburgh County data.

It is the responsibility of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office to provide the Indiana Department of Corrections with information, changes or updates on all registered offenders. These changes are submitted electronically to the state website and are reflected within 24hrs.  It is also the responsibility of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office to investigate, any complaints of any registered sex or violent offender that may be in violation of the Indiana State law Indiana Code 11-8-8.

If you have any information on a registered sex offender who you believe may be in violation of this law or have questions regarding a person who may be required to register, you may contact Deputy Mike Robinson at the Vanderburgh Sheriff Command Post on Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. (812)-421-6307. Or email mrobinson@vanderburghsheriff.com
